Sara Baio, Facilitator
Sara Baio holds dual Master’s Degrees in special and general education from Pace University. She began her career as a special education teacher in Ossining, NY, in 2005.
Inspired by raising three energetic boys, she discovered the transformative power of mindfulness and recognized it as the missing piece in education. Sara now brings contemplative practice and social emotional learning into schools and communities to foster presence, focus, compassion, and resilience. She is passionate about helping people cultivate their strengths, regardless of their ability or past.
Sara is a certified mindfulness and qigong instructor through Mindful Schools and Holden Qigong. She is trained in Trauma Responsive Teaching, Restorative Justice, Nonviolent Communication, Self Compassion, and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. She has studied with leading teachers and organizations such as Ruth King, Oren Jay Sofer, Kristen Neff, Mindful Leader, the Garrison Institute, the Omega Institute, and the Shift Network. She is also a member of the Mind & Life Institute.
In 2022, Sara founded Mindful Hearts LLC to teach people of all abilities and ages mindfulness and social emotional learning.
She is a Social Emotional Learning Coach at Putnam Northern Westchester Boards of Cooperative Educational Services where she provides professional development for educators, as well as behavioral supports and interventions for students.
Sara is grateful to be a facilitator with the Community Mindfulness Project!

Community Mindfulness Project is a nonprofit on a mission of delivering accessible mindfulness programs for a healthier Fairfield County. Despite the proven benefits of mindfulness, local under-resourced neighborhoods face barriers to these tools. We're breaking those down those barriers with free in-person and virtual meditation sessions.
