Community Mindfulness Project (CMP) is excited to share a free, four week Outdoor Mindfulness Program with the Norwalk community this July.
Join us on select Thursdays from 10am - 11am for any or all of this outdoor mindfulness program at the Preserve at Farm Creek.
CMP's outdoor mindfulness program is rooted in and informed by the practice of forest bathing, also known as shinrin-yoku, which originated in Japan in the 1980s. The term was coined by the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries in 1982 and translates as "taking in the forest atmosphere" or "forest bathing." Forest environments were found to reduce stress, lower blood pressure, boost the immune system and improve mood. These findings have led to the recognition and promotion of Forest Bathing as a meditative practice, as well as a form of preventative healthcare.
Community Mindfulness Project brings this outdoor mindfulness program to the Norwalk community in proud partnership with the Aspetuck Land Trust. The Aspetuck Land Trust will be on hand to share important information about their mission to protect land forever and connect people to the natural world.β
Everyone is welcome to join. No prior meditation experience is necessary. Join all or as many sessions as youβd like. Please park on the street and meet at the entrance area, where youβll see the Preserve sign and gate.
