Urban Forest Bathing Mindfulness Program
April 19, 26, May 3, 10
Sundays 12pm - 1pm
Fodor Farms, 328 Flax Hill Rd, Norwalk
Community Mindfulness Project (CMP) is excited to share a free, four week Urban Forest Bathing Meditation Program with the Norwalk community this spring.
Join us on select Sundays from 12pm - 1pm for any or all of this outdoor mindfulness program at Fodor Farms.
CMP's outdoor mindfulness program is rooted in and informed by the practice of forest bathing, also known as shinrin-yoku, which originated in Japan in the 1980s. The term was coined by the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries in 1982 and translates as "taking in the forest atmosphere" or "forest bathing." Forest environments were found to reduce stress, lower blood pressure, boost the immune system and improve mood. These findings have led to the recognition and promotion of Forest Bathing as a meditative practice, as well as a form of preventative healthcare.
Community Mindfulness Project brings this spring outdoor mindfulness program to the Norwalk community in partnership with the Norwalk Tree Alliance 's Tree School at Fodor Farms. The NTA will be on hand to share important information about their mission to preserve Norwalkβs urban forest for generations to come.
Everyone is welcome to join. No prior meditation experience is necessary. The Norwalk Tree Alliance will provide a brief overview of their work at Fodor Farm. We will meet at Norwalk Tree Alliance's Tree School, at Fodor Farm.
