Jouvanna Brame, Marketing & Operations Intern

When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy.
— Rumi

JoJo Brame is from Norwalk, CT. She has her B.A. in Psychology, with a minor in writing from Loyola University Maryland. During undergrad, JoJo founded and hosted a mental health conference focused on education and resources for communities of color. After graduating, she moved to Memphis, TN to pursue work in behavioral health. In Memphis, she worked closely with youth and adults in groups and one to one in various settings including: the hospital, in-home, and residential treatment centers. Her professional experience in behavioral health has allowed her to witness firsthand the lasting effects of untreated mental distress, anxiety, depression, and the overwhelming demand of resources and care due to various factors. This work moved her to transition to the non-profit and community sector approximately 2 years ago although her commitment of service to others began in her teenage years.

Outside of work, JoJo is a self-published poet, with work with two poems featured in Harness Magazine (@harnesscommunity) and one by The Brazen Collective (@brazen_collective). She is set to release her next book, "to my friend, sincerely", later this year and is excited as it is her first full-length poetry book. She enjoys binge-watching thriller and mystery films and shows, discovering new restaurants, listening to music, and visiting art museums.
