Outdoor Mindfulness

May 13, 20, 27th

Wednesdays, 6pm - 7pm

Mill River Park, Stamford

30 West Broad Street, Stamford, CT

Community Mindfulness Project (CMP)  is excited to share a free, three week Outdoor Mindfulness program with the Stamford community this May.

Join us on select Wednesdays from 6 PM to 7 PM for any or all of this Outdoor Mindfulness program.

CMP's outdoor mindfulness program is rooted in and informed by the practice of forest bathing, also known as shinrin-yoku, which originated in Japan in the 1980s. The term was coined by the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries in 1982 and translates as "taking in the forest atmosphere" or "forest bathing." Forest environments were found to reduce stress, lower blood pressure, boost the immune system and improve mood. These findings have led to the recognition and promotion of Forest Bathing as a meditative practice, as well as a form of preventative healthcare.

During our time together, we'll use our senses to open up to the present moment experience and notice nature all around us at Mill River Park.

Community Mindfulness Project brings this Outdoor Mindfulness program to the Stamford community in partnership with the Mill River Park Collaborative.

Everyone is welcome to join. No prior meditation experience is necessary.
