Extending thanks to Building 1 Community
Extending joy and thanks to Building 1 Community for hosting CMP at an employee Lunch & Learn, where together we sat in community and learned tools to manage stress and reduce anxiety. Intro to Mindfulness is a great way to learn about the mindfulness attitudes, like a beginner’s mind, patience, and non-striving.
Thanks B1C!! We enjoyed every moment!
Supporting Social Emotional Learning in Bridgeport Public Schools
Bridgeport Public Schools has been a leader in implementing Social Emotional Learning to support educational outcomes. CMP got to work with almost 100 6th-12th graders over the past week as they trained for their roles as SEL Student Ambassadors. They described their roles as “creating a school climate where kids want to come to school.” When asked why they took on the role of SEL Ambassador, students said they wanted to help the schools be places where kids felt happy and safe. CMP shared mindfulness-based tools for resilience with these student leaders. And the students shared their kindness and willingness to work for what they believe in with us!

Thank you to the NCCF for the ARPA Grant!
Thank you to the New Canaan Community Foundation for awarding the generous American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant to Community Mindfulness Project. We are honored to accept these funds and are grateful for your support! Like most small nonprofit organizations, Community Mindfulness Project was challenged to serve the community throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. We left the comfort of libraries and community spaces, learned new ways to operate, and pivoted to new technologies and platforms in order to reach and serve. Thank you for being our partner in these efforts.
Forest Bathing : Wed Nov 9 in New Canaan
Forest Bathing with New Canaan Land Trust - Wednesday, November 9th, 10am - 11am
As we move into the autumn months and the leaves begin to change color and temperatures cool, the New Canaan Land Trust, Let’s Talk About It New Canaan, and The Community Mindfulness Project are partnering to create a wellness event inspired by nature and the outdoors.
Through shinrin yoku/forest bathing, participants will learn about and have the opportunity to practice mindful meditation to promote mental health and wellbeing, outside at the Browne Preserve. The goals of the program will be to teach participants a practice, ensure that they have the resources and experience to continue that practice on their own, and introduce them to the Land Trust’s network of open space.

Connecting Through The Senses with New Canaan Land Trust
Join us on October 12th at 10am: Council RIng at Still Pond, New Canaan
We spend a lot of our time in “simulator mode”, removed from the present moment as we envision future scenarios or past events. Not all of that time is helpful, and often we may be missing out on the richness of life that is occurring in the present moment. Luckily, we can use our senses to connect us to the present moment so we don’t miss out on the the most important moment of our life – the one that is unfolding right now. Join us as we engage our five senses to help us come home to the present moment. Join us at Still Pond Preserve where we’ll make our way to the Council Ring, a special place that evokes a deep sense of community and togetherness.
For more information and registration, visit the New Canaan Land Trust’s website.

Shakers Anonymous
Humans have a deep, intrinsic need to belong - to feel a part of a community, to be seen, received, accepted and valued. The pain of not feeling like we belong is as strong as physical pain, cutting us to the core. We’ve all felt it at one time or another. In the best case, it’s a short experience, confined to a specific situation, and then we find our way back to our own sense of value, or to a group who receives us as we are. In the worst of situations, it’s prolonged and we can’t make our way back “home”.
Thank you - Rotary Club of New Canaan
We are grateful once again to receive a grant from the Rotary Club of New Canaan.
Thank You Teachers!!
CMP celebrates teachers during National Teacher Appreciation Week, May 2th - May 6th.

Thank you for the important work that you do!!
