1.5 Minutes to Make Habits - and Impact - Stick

Do you have a morning routine?

I’m going to go out on a limb and say: For as long as I can remember, I’ve really struggled with forming one.

For me, it’s always felt like an obligation more than something that is going to bring me peace, help me see the light, or just start my day off on the right foot.

But everyone I admire— from the team at CMP, Serena Williams, to my 80-year-old father-in-law—all had some kind of morning practice. Not a performative checklist, but something that fit their lives.

I began to wonder if not having a morning routine has more to do with forming a habit.

Have you been told the same thing as me? That forming a habit takes 21 days?

Well, according to a study from Phillipa Lally, it actually takes more like 66 days to form a habit and sometimes up to 284!

Click. Yes, that’s me buckling my seatbelt for this winding ride.

Because I am a person who puts absolutely everything in my calendar or a to do list - I need to make forming a habit as easy, accessible, and memorable as possible.

👉 Insert: AUTOMATION.

That’s right. Now that my 1 year old sleeps through the night, my morning routine can include meditation again - so I’m going to set up one up to play as my alarm so I can start without opening my eyes.

Anything that will help set me up for feeling great early in the day - I’m in.

The same goes for your charitable giving.

I know you are already a firm believer in the work we do at Community Mindfulness Project. I know this because you just showed us when you made a generous gift.

That gift helped us say yes to vital partnerships and bring mindfulness to neighbors who need it most.

In the spirit of making things as easy as possible, we are inviting you to join The Circle and put your giving on autopilot. No extra steps, no remembering dates—just consistent, meaningful impact.

No habit forming is necessary 😉.

P.S. According to the NIH, giving lights up the parts of the brain linked to pleasure, connection, and peace. So yes—your generosity is literally good for you. 😌
