What to expect?
Our meditation sessions are generally less than an hour in duration, with about 30 minutes of this time in formal guidance or silence, following a format of:
Welcome
Guided meditation on this week's topic with periods of silence
Reflection
Each week we focus on a different practice alternating between mind focusing and heart opening.
Before the meditation
If the weather is bad, it is a holiday, etc., check-back for any last minute cancellations. Please travel safely.
Arrive a few minutes early to transition gently physcially, mentally and emotionally. We strive to start on-time.
Let us know if you are a new meditator or joining us for the first time.

During the meditation
There are no unsuccessful or bad meditations. It is called a "practice" with intention. Sitting quietly is beneficial.
Practicing meditation will help you notice the thoughts, emotions and sensations that arise in the present moment. This process is not always easy, even experienced meditators struggle with the sometimes deafening "chatter" of our mind. We will practice quieting the mind using proven techniques.
Meditation is not sleeping, although it seems to look that way sometimes.
After the meditation
Please get-up slowly and safely.
Integrating mindfulness and meditation into your life is beneficial and we will give you tips on how to do it.
Regular practice is recommended, so we look forward to you joining us again.

What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is paying attention to this moment, and this one, and this one...with kindness and curiosity.
What is meditation?
Meditation is a set of practices (one of which is Mindfulness) to build healthy habits of the mind.
What are the benefits of meditation?
Numerous recent studies strongly support the benefits of meditation, which include improved emotional regulation, focus, resilience, compassion, and mental and physical health.
Is meditating difficult?
There are no unsuccessful or bad meditation sessions! That's why it's called a "practice." Sitting quietly is beneficial.
Should I meditate with my eyes open or closed?
You can keep your eyes open during the meditation, or "hooded" (half-open/half-closed), whatever helps you feel safe and relaxed.
What do I wear?
Arrive just as you are. Most people sit in a chair and chairs are always available. Much of the time we will be still so you may wish to bring a light sweater, but no special clothing is required.
Do I need to bring anything?
Nope. You are welcome to bring a meditation cushion, but it's not necessary.
How do I get started?

How much does it cost?
Our weekly sessions are free and open to the public. We rely on donations. Our suggested donation is $20 for our in person session and $3 for each dial-in or Zoom. Click to donate β
